Itinerary
Day 1 – Friday, 25th July – Arrival
Our French visitors will be met by their host families and spend the evening catching up/getting to know each other
Day 2 – Saturday, 26th July – Belfast
9am – Meet at ’98 Hall. Bus leaves for Belfast
During the visit to Belfast, Northern Ireland’s capital, we will visit the historic Titanic Quarter and a trip to Titanic, Belfast
This experience tells the story of the ill fated RMS Titanic in the city where the ship was built.
Day 2 – Sunday, 27th July
Family Time – Time to for the hosts and visitors to spend time together
4.45pm – Meet at ’98 Hall
5pm – Photo Rally/Treasure Hunt
Host Families join together for a Photo Rally/Treasure Hunt around Ballinamuck Village
Note: Please bring rain coats and wear suitable footwear!
6.30pm – Refreshments in the ’98 Bar. A special screening of ‘Ballinamuck‘ (with French subtitles) – a documentary made to mark the 225th Commemoration of the Battle of Ballinamuck outlining the history and aftermath of the Battle on the history of Ireland. Followed by Traditional Music.
Day 3 – Monday, 28th July
Sample the culinary delights of Longford with a trip to Cloghan Farm for a ‘Demo and Dine’ (including soda bread and scones!) and a tour of the farm.
This will be followed by a Chocolate Making workshop with the award winning Torc Chocolates
8pm Civic Reception
- Meet in the ’98 Hall at 8pm for a Civic Reception hosted by Longford County Council
Day 4 – Tuesday, 29th July
A day spent in the neighbouring county of Cavan. There will be a visit to Cavan County Museum with interactive exhibits including a dedicated display of World War 1. This will be followed by a visit to Crafts of Ireland where not only will there be a traditional afternoon tea but all will be able to try their hand at a traditional Irish craft and get to keep what you make!
- Time to be Confirmed: Twinning Celebration in St. Patrick’s National School, Ballinamuck – young people will showcase their work during the Twinning – food and music to celebrate Twinning 2025
